Actually, it doesn’t violate the state constitution anymore. Last spring, a federal judge struck down that 30 day residency requirement, agreeing with a senior citizens group that had filed a lawsuit in 2023 which declared that our residency requirement violated the US Voting Rights Act. Their argument was that a significant number of seniors move all the time (downsizing, to assisted living, to live with family, etc.). I think that number is relatively small, particularly when it would affect voting only once or twice each year. I agree that SSB 5017 is inviting (even allowing) voter fraud, perhaps even more so with the mandating of an electronic voting component.

Hi GJTL, I am very aware of the Elias / SoS / Wise / Hall / Leftist Judge Collusion Consent decree. But SSB 5017 still most certainly violates the state constitution.
