Why doorbelling to help clean the voter rolls is necessary for Election Integrity
Educate. Advocate. Mitigate. Activate!
During 2021–2023 hundreds of concerned citizen grassroot volunteers did Election Integrity (E.I.) doorbelling in 25 Washington State counties via the WA State Voter Research Project to help county auditors clean the voter rolls. Door-to-Door Canvassing is important to verify the accuracy of public information and to identify voters who are not legally authorized electors in the state of Washington so they can be properly removed from the rolls.
In accordance with state law RCW 29A.08.105 and in compliance with the Help America Vote Act (P.L. 107-252), the state maintains a centralized voter database. The voter list includes voter registration data and data of those who voted. RCW 29A.08.125 states that the statewide database is the official list of registered voters and includes the name, date of birth, residence address, signature, gender, vote history and date of registration of every legally registered voter in the state.
E.I. doorbelling teams (mostly using targeted walk-book address lists) canvassed: Asotin, Benton, Chelan, Clallam, Clark, Cowlitz, Douglas, Garfield, Grant, Grays Harbor, Island, Jefferson, King, Kitsap, Kittitas, Lincoln, Mason, Pend Oreille, Skagit, Snohomish, Spokane, Thurston, Walla Walla, Whatcom and Yakima counties.
OF NOTE: Doorbelling canvassing reports found most counties had over a 40% “anomaly” rate; meaning that for about every two addresses contacted (conversation with the resident) there was one recorded voter anomaly.
The definition of Anomaly: When the Secretary of State and County voter registration database is not consistent with the voter of record registered address. E.g., when the canvasser goes to the door of the registered voter, the resident or owner of the property reports (often attesting with a signed affidavit) that the person registered to vote at that address does not live there, has moved, has never heard of them, etc. Other examples of an anomaly include addresses that do not exist, a vacant lot, etc.
The county with the highest recorded anomaly rate was Spokane County, with 2.09 anomalies per address, including 1,304 discovered anomalies out of 624 addresses canvassed.
The county in WA state that has the most identified anomalies is Skagit, with 1,900 + anomalies (one single family home had 17 people registered to vote at the address). Originally in 2021, 42 deceased Skagit voters that voted in the 2020 election were flagged by data analysts. After much research, in early 2022 it was verified that all 42 voters had voted before they passed away, and the anomaly totals were adjusted downward accordingly.
The good news is that county auditors are removing many of these statewide discovered anomalies from the voter rolls. However, many still remain.
In Skagit at least 575 of those registered voter anomalies that voted in the 2020 general election, AGAIN voted in the 2022 general election. In late November 2022, 14 volunteer canvassers went to 145 of those 575 addresses and found 148 anomalies (1.02 anomalies per address). The shocking part is that 55 (37%) of the 148 anomalies were newly registered voter anomalies at the same address as the original anomaly in 2020.
Please understand that these are targeted walk-book lists put together by experienced data analysts, using publicly available information, where the registered voter and address were flagged for investigation. It is just a sliver of what else is out there.
EXPOSED: Data analyst findings include dozens of multi-state voters: I.e., people who were registered to vote and allegedly VOTED in Washington State and at least in one other state in the 2020, 2021 or 2022 elections, such as WA & AZ. Just one provided list has 21 voters who allegedly voted in Washington State and in Maricopa County, Arizona (IN THE SAME ELECTION).
OF INTEREST: While canvassing, we were able to identify a registered King County voter who lives in a Seattle, WA Housing Authority Building. The most updated voter registration data available says this individual is also registered to vote in WA DC at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave NW. YES, at The White House, since April 2020.
Hmm... I thought the SOS, County Auditors and Electronic Registration Information Center (ERIC) were supposed to be cleaning the voter rolls…
A SOLUTION: VOTER CHALLENGES. The next step after identifying anomalies is to file an official voter challenge with the county auditor to remove the registered voter from the rolls (RCW 29A.08.810). There are ongoing successful efforts using this method in several WA State counties.
Thanks to all the committed volunteers working on this important project. According to United Sovereign Citizens, if the anomaly rate exceeds the specified legal limits, the election CANNOT BE CERTIFIED. But, unless we sue them to adhere to the law, they will get away with it year after year.
